Kids’ Listerine recall

April
12

Johnson & Johnson has recalled a plaque-detecting rinse for kids made by Listerine after it was found to be contaminated by microorganisms, the Associated Press has reported.

The company is recalling all 4 million bottles of Glacier Mint and Bubble Blast flavors of Listerine Agent Cool Blue. This includes all lots sold or distributed since the product launched last year. The recall doesn’t involve any other Listerine products. While it doesn’t appear that anyone has become ill from using Cool Agent Blue, there is a risk of illness among people with weakened or suppressed immune systems.

I have a bottle of this at home right now. My boys hardly ever use it, which is now a blessing, I suppose. I thought it was kind of cool, because they could rinse with it after brushing to see what spots they didn’t brush so well. Sounded like a good idea. Well, so much for that. We’ll just go back to setting a timer to make sure they spend enough time brushing.

If you have this, you’re instructed to stop using it immediately. Hold onto the bottle, because you’ll need to label in order to request a refund from the company. For more information, call 888-222-0249 or visit http://www.agentcoolblue.com.

We only use the real thing here. i am just glad they got winter fresh because the old antiseptic yellow was even tough for me. ;-]

  2. Gayle

Adult Listerine scares me. Just recently, I bought a trial size bottle of the citrus flavored stuff and poured it in a paper cup for my husband. About three minutes later, it had actually eaten through the cup! That’s when I gave up on the rest of the bottle.

  3. Steve C.

It killed on the germs in the cup. i would throw out the cups ;-]

What are the side effects of using the listrene that was recalled I have a friend that has a 9yr son that has a weak immune system and for the last few months he has been really ill and the doctor says he is baffled that they dont know what is causing him to be sick.

  5. lydia

I have been trying to figure out the same thing, i have even called Texas Dept. of health. The phone numbers they give you to call wont answer. My son is eight, he has a weak immune system, he has been sick for almost a year, his doctor is baffled as well, we are being sent to to a specialist. All i want is the side effects so that maybe he will not have to undergo unnecessary testing.
(he has been using this product since it first came out.)

  6. Gayle

    Lydia and Irene,
If I were you, I would consult a doctor on this one. Here’s what the Listerine folks suggest from their Web sit, http://www.agentcoolblue.com:
My child has been using this product. Should I be concerned?

McNEIL-PPC, Inc. conducted a thorough assessment and concluded that the risk of illness in healthy individuals following use of this product is very low. However, there could be a significant health risk to individuals with weakened or suppressed immune systems. To date, there have been no consumer adverse health events reported that are related to this issue. If you have further concerns, please consult your healthcare professional.

  7. Jessica

I am saddened to see two children mentioned here with weakened immune systems being affected and the parents not knowing if this recall is the source. I have also contacted the company directly and my pediatrician and am getting no straight answers on what exactly the mirco-organisms are. The testing that caused this product to be recalled should also show exactly what micro-organisms are present. Just that there are micro-organisms is too wide of an explanation for us concerned parents. My girls have been using this product since it came on the market. I want to know exactly what mircro-organisms they have been exposed to, symptoms, and health concerns in the future. Does any one else feel this way?

  8. LLL

I believe that the generalities of the description of micro-organisms causing defects is for the “general” public’s understanding. If specifics were stated, I do not believe that the “general” public would understand the meanings and effects of such particles. As for the dissolvement of cups, if they are paper ones there is a possiblity of such a reaction occuring.

  9. Steve

    Gayle,
try the same experiment with water – the cups don’t hold up..

My 8 yr old son was been using Listerine Cool Blue prior to recall notification. Two nights ago he started complaing of darker gums (and they are darker-brownish in color instead of his normal pinkish color) as well as very sensitive gums. I called the hot line to find out about likely symptoms and was given a song and dance about ‘no known cases and no known symptoms’. Surely, the McNeil/JJ team of researchers and doctors know the list of potential symptoms but they are not willing to share those with consumers.

Any one else out there who has some smiliar symptoms following use of this product? Of course, we have a call in to his dentist to see what thinks or knows. Would appreciate any information from parents/and or medical professionals.

  11. Danielle

I have three kids two have week immune systems. I have also noticed my sons gums have darkened alot since using this mouthwash. I never put the two together until reading these blog.

  12. Jessica

Even if we are the ‘general public’ I for one expect a specific not a general answer on this one. Even if we are not medical professionals we all have access to the internet, medical professionals, medical books, etc. to look up the specific micro-organisms and what they cause. Anyway I got an e-mail back after three attempts from the company. The micro-organisms that are present are: pseudomonas fluorescens, klebsiella oxytoca, serratia marcescens and enterobactar cloacae. Those of you who mention children with compromised immune systems can now contact your pediatricians with these names and at least get them put in your children’s medical charts as being exposed to them through the Agent CoolBlue so if there are any adverse affects your doctors are aware of the exposure.

  13. beth

i have to wonder if this also affected kids with regular immune systems, and here’s why: my stepson had a history of strep as a baby. the last two years, he did well and only got strep once in the winter. this year, he got it 4 times in a row over a three month period, with tonsillitis to boot – which happens to have started about a month after his mother started him on the Agent Cool Blue. i can’t prove a connection, of course, but the coincidence, and the company admission that there’s an impact on compromised immune systems, makes me wonder.

  14. lydia

Thank you Jessica for the names of those micro-organisms, that is all i have been looking for. I feel now that i have something to give my sons Dr. I will be taking him to a pediatric urologist this friday, hopefully we will soon have some answers.

  15. Joni

I have three children who have been using this product. I to have had them to their doctor 2-3 times a week for the past three months. He has no idea what is causing their illnesses. They have had mouth sores, sinus infections, tonsilitis, pink eye twice, periodic fevers over 103, three asthma attacks, and more. It has taken a tole on my mental health. It is the worst thing in the world to have perfectly healthy kids and all of a sudden are sick constantly. I called the 1-800 number and also recieved very frustrating coments. They refuse to accept that they have been potentially harming childeren. They also said that there are no known cases directly linked to there products.

  16. lydia

Hey guys, I just got back from my son’s urologist, he is runnin a more in depth urinalysis on my son, He is suggesting that the blood in his urine is being caused by a BACTERIA. Please call your local FDA a file a complaint aganist the company so that they will have to come out and say what harm this listerine agent cool blue has done to our children. Both my Dr. and the one we saw today have no clue about the recall or what harm it did or could do, i showed them the list of micro-organisms i had, they havent heard, they dont know, we need to get this out there. This is the number i have for the FDA, 214-253-5200 ext. 5233. Please make the call and help. Thank You.

  17. Jessica

To Lydia-so glad the name of the micro-organisms helped.
The FDA number is that to report health concerns or an information line. They were the first people I contacted when this whole thing started and were very helpful but didn’t know anything but what Johnson and Johnson had released in their press release. Do we call the number you give to file a complaint?
To Joni-see my comment above on the 20th of April for the list of micro-organisms to take to your doctor to see if he thinks their might be a link to what illnesses your children have had.
The more internet blogs and word of mouth we put out there the more the ‘powers that be’ will listen!! Thanks to all of you who are taking action and asking questions!!!

  18. lydia

The FDA # i gave is to file a complaint only, however, the FDA has returned 2 of my calls, the latest one, they told me they had more information on the health risks but it was confidential information that could only be released to my childs Doctor. I hope i can get that from him soon, I just want to know how can the fda tell me they have information on my childs health(risk) but not inform me the parent, i have to wait for it to go through the Dr. I get results on the tests they ran on my son hopefully tomorrow, I will get back with info as soon as i can. By the way the more of us that call the FDA and file a complaint the sooner more info will come out.

  19. Angie

Thank you all for the information on the Listerine Agent Cool Blue recall. I took my daughter to the dentist for a baby root canal and cleaning. At that time, her dentist recommended that she use the Agent Cool Blue. She started using it a few days later. About a week later, she started complaining of dental pain. We took her back and they found that she had 2 infected teeth, one of the teeth was the baby root canal tooth and the other was a tooth that just weeks prior had been healthy. Now both teeth need to be pulled out. I wonder if the microorganisms in the recalled rinse had anything to do with it. Has anyone else encountered something like this?

  20. mary ellen

    hello all –

my son has been sick with intestinal pain that comes and goes, lack of app., vomiting, paleness , headaches, etc. He used about 25% of agent blue in the past 6 weeks.

Right now he is being tested for antigens in his blood and stool, mainly h/ pylori.

My question is: how long did it take for your kids to feel better?

And – how many of you plan too take legal action? I do.

    Thanks,
    ME

they need to tell the truth about no reported incidents! my 10 yr old daughter has been severely ill for three months! she is a very healthy child, eats healthy because she likes too, is very active, and gets plenty of rest. on new years she contracted mono from a cousin weakening her immune system. since using the listerine she first swelled from her shoulders to her head also breaking out in a rash. her mouth was very swollen. her nurse barely recognized her. phyzer (misspell) was contacted this day and took all of her information. since that date in early april, she has had strep, no appetite, a severe sinus infection, nightmares, diarrhea, abdominal pains, a rash that breaks out all over her body, and her face periodically swells. there are even more illnesses she’s suffered. listerine keeps calling to check on her and sent me a package to mail back the bottle. no way not until i know what is wrong with her. for six nights i sat awake with her counting her breaths, her respirations were 13-15 per minute which is very low but not low enough to take her to a hospital. our doctor is a small town doctor and i don’t think he even read the list of microorganisms. i’m taking her to devos childrens hospital tomorrow. one of the microorganisms are linked to e. coli and myself, my toddler, and infant are all experiencing all of the symptoms! anyone who’s children have been exposed, keep your house as clean as possible and wash wash wash your hands. i may have unknowingly spread this nasty bacteria through out our house. i will update on what test results we get. good luck everybody.

  22. Ruth

I have 4 nephews that have been through 1 and a half bottles of agent blue. The 7 yr old has had strep since april 16,2007.His neck gland has swelled the size of a golf ball. His side of face has swelled in front of ear and lower eyelid has ulcerated the size of a dime.He just had a needle biopsy today because dr are puzzeled. His dentist said they had a pt that had similar symptons and nearly died. The mother of child said her child was using cool blue agent. The 2 older brohers have had vomiting and diarrhea.THe boys have had several nose bleeds. If anyone has similar symptoms please let me know .The FDA told me on the phone to have child swabbed on throat and culture for the 4 micro. They were willing to call child’s dr.HAs anyone had this done, Thanks

  23. Jessica

I have read on other blogs about the FDA contacting doctors directly. I think if they can talk to the doctors about it why not us? At least we can get our childrens medical records from our doctors and request that the doctors put in their files this exposure to micro-organisms so it’s on record. There is a firm that is looking into this recall it is: Smith, Vanture & Bogani 800-443-4529 bws@smithvanture.com. I urge you all to contact them and give them all symptoms present since your children started using this product. I know so many sound so familiar and are repeated several times on other blogs: strep throat, urinary tract infections, flu symptoms, etc. This can’t just be coincidence and the more this firm hears from us they can gather all information that is relevant. They also mentioned that they are doing their own testing of the product too which is a relief. They may be a bit more honest about what they find. My prayers are with all your children. Please let mine be in yours. Thanks.

  24. lydia

Hello, Well i got my sons results back, come to find out they were testing his kidneys for cancer, but there is no cancer.Thank God for that one. The Dr. have no explaination for the symptoms my son is having, his Dr. is convinced his problem is not caused by the listerine, i as a mother with mother instincts feel different, he did say the listerine may have caused his strep, his so called stomache flu all his other little problems, he did say the listerine may have made the problem worse. I am getting a full copy of my sons medical records one day next week, i can then find out what the fda said. We still have our appointment with Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston in June. I to have contacted the law firm, i want answers, are any of your Dr. giving you the run around? I trust my Dr. but …..

My 8 year old son has been having many of these same symptoms I am seeing described here. He has not used Agent Cool Blue since last week, but he and my 6 year old daughter had strep pretty bad back in early April. Since then, my daughter has been fine, but my son’s fever started last Sunday. He was complaining of a sore throat and my husband noticed some sores in the back of his mouth on Monday and the doctor recommended bringing him in. Tuesday, his energy was back, but the sores were still there, so we brought him in on Wednesday. The doctor ran a throat culture, and he tested negative for strep. They were gonna send the sample on for further testing, and will let us know if there are any problems. I wish I had known about this sooner, and I could have asked about testing for these microorganisms. His fever was gone Thursday, but the pain continued and it really started to affect his appetite. So I called to schedule a dentist appt, but they can’t get him in until next Weds. It wasn’t until Friday that I noticed his gums had gotten darker. The dentist is out until Monday, but I called his doctor again this morning, as well as our local Poison Control, to see if anyone had reported any issues with the product. Both were concerned it might have to do with something other than the product, since he hasn’t been using it lately, and neither had heard of any other reported cases. We will take him back to the dr on Monday and see about getting into the dentist sooner. Hopefully the dentist can provide a little more input, see if any other odd cases have come up in his practice lately.

Also, my daughter noticed that his gums were bleeding earlier, which is when I called his doctor. He’s just complained of general pain, nothing more than yesterday, but his energy level is low, and he is normally so full of energy. He hasn’t lost interest in his regular hobbies, which is a good thing. He’s been such a good sport about it all, and he’s such a good kid. I know I shouldn’t, but now all I can think is how horrible it is that such a product that we buy, as parents, for our childrens’ use could cause them so much pain and discomfort. There was no way for us to know such a thing would happen, but it hurts to see my child suffer like this. In the meantime, all I can do is
get him to the right professionals to try to help him get better, and document everything along the way.

    Hi everybody,
I just learned about the recall when I took a friend of mine to the dentist yesterday, this needs to be publicized more. My three kids have been using this stuff for a couple of months, but not regularly (thank Goodness!). The one who used it the most has been suffering from gum and tooth pain and horrible mouth sores lately, but I never made the connection until yesterday, my second child now has first mouth sores, too. My kids have always been extremely healthy and I’m concerned that it must be really serious if it affects even healthy kids. My heart goes out to all your sick kids out there and I hope they get better soon now that you figured out the reason. Spread the word!!!!!

My 6 year old son has been dealing with illness since Dec 2006. He has had several strep infections that he has been treated with antibiotics each time but the strep either doesn’t go away at all or returns soon after treatment. He has had headaches, fevers, and stomache aches also. I have taken him to the emergency room 2 times with severve headache, sore throat, fever(104.7). He also had white cells in his urine. He is now being sent to a ENT. I know that he started using the Agent Cool Blue product around the time he started with this illness. I have tried to find out from the company what the significant health risks are to someone with a suppressed immune system but they will not give me any information. He has never had any problems like this before this started in December and I really need to know what the health risks are from this product to know if it could be the problem for not being able to get rid of this illness even with antibiotic treatment. They say it could be a significant health risk to people with a suppressed immune system so they have to know what the risks are. If anyone has found out any information that can help please post a reply or if anyone has had these problems also I sure would be interested in knowing all the information I can find. He also has had canker sores don’t know if that is related or just a normal occurance.

  28. Joni

After writing in on the 24th of April my 2 year old son was hospitalized for 5 days with strep A pneumonia along with sinusitis and had just ended a 2 week antibiotic treatment. I then tried to give the micro-organisms names to my ped. he did not want them. I changed ped. and am still getting no response. There is a great deal of concern with many parents not just with low immunity children. Although, my son has been cortisteriods since Jan. due to his asthma. Which he probably would never have developed if he had not used the Agent Cool Blue Bubble Blast. By the way what flavor did you all use? I was told it had only affected one flavor. J&J are not being responsible. If they were really concerned and cared about the users of this product they would be more forthcoming with the info that they do have. I hope people continue to write in. Maybe there will be some sort of recourse sometime before a child dies!!! Mine very well could have. I was scared to death and I have contacted an attorney about a personal injury case and I will keep you all updated. Also, my son has had 4 tooth extractions and 3 fillings since using this product but there is no link between these issues(ha ha, what a joke) even my dentist said this. We will never get a straight answer from doctors or dentist because they all work together to protect drug companies just to keep the big money rolling in this is neglect period. I have asked both my old ped and my new one to do more urine tests, blood work and stool test all were denied. There is a connection, I guess it is up to us the parents of suffering children to find the answers. If anyone has any more suggestions, please keep them coming. Thank you Jessica , Lydia and everyone else for starting some sort of a support network because the guilty party certainly is not going to do anything voluntarily, I suppose we will just have to force them. I hope everyones children are doing better mine seem to be for now although the last couple days my 4 and 2 year olds have been stuffy. I just pray that this is not starting all over again.

  29. Joni

I feel it is a good idea to inform everyone of all the illnesses my children have suffered from since Dec. 06. I purchased the Listerine in either November or December 2006. My son had small cavities in all four first molars that severely decayed in three weeks after using the product. In the middle of Dec. he recieved an antibiotic for a gum infection and codiene for the pain that the infection and tooth decay caused. In Jan. 07 one molar and the two top front teeth were pulled out. For the next month or so I had taken my children to their ped. several times with symptoms of stuffy nose, runny nose, chest congestion, low fevers, and not acting normal. I was repeatedly told not to worry, but how could I not when all three have been perfectly healthy until now. My 2 year old son was also diagnosed with sinusitis and was again prescribed an antibiotic and a nasal steroid. On Jan 25 I went to the ER because my son now had been diganosed with Bronchitis. In Feb. my son had began to have breathing trouble again which was diagnosed by his ped. as asthma and treated with xopenex and prednisolone which is known to decrease ability to fight off infections. We continued to make weekly trips to the doctors with cold symptoms, fevers, red eyes. Again no explanation and no tests were run. My 4 year old daughter was prescribed an antibiotic for a sinus infection after having a fever for 3 days with thick green mucous. In March my son had another “asthma attack” and treated at the ER again. Now my children were begining to get mouth sores and tounge spots which again were explained away by cold or viruses. My son’s top left molar had now decayed so badly we had to make an emergency trip to the dentist for an emergency extraction in which the tooth was broken into 3-4 pieces because it was so bad. In April, 07 my son was again prescribed an antibiotic for an ear and sinus infection. I repeatedly asked for blood, urine, and stool tests because of concerns about fever, pale complexion, and bright red lips. No tests were ever preformed. On 4/14/07 I heard only one news broadcast about the recall and the everything began to come together. I immediatly called the ped. and took my children in. I thought finally some resolve. Not a chance the doctor called the health dept. where they told him to do nothing. I requested tests be run but was refused once again. On 4/23/07 I returned to the doctor with my 4 year old with almost 104 fever and extreme ear pain, my 7 year old with eyes the as bright as blood, and my 2 year old having trouble breathing again. My 4 year old was prescribed an antibiotic, my 7 year old was told to take benedryl, and my 2 year old to continue with breathing treatments. The next day 4/24/07 I returned because my 7 year olds eyes were even worse, she was finally prescribed an antibiotic eye drop. He did mention that my son’s lungs sounded real good and clear. At 2:30 am on 4/25/07 I rushed my son to the ER because of 104+ fever where he was admitted for 5 days with Strep A Pneumonia and a sinus infection again, this was three days after ending a 2 week course of antibiotics. I do wonder how my son’s doctor missed this not 12 hours before. To J&J and PFIZER: If you truely believe that there are no known illnesses caused by this product, here are many illnesses that my children have been suffering from only after using your product LISTERINE AGENT COOL BLUE BUBBLE BLAST!! PLEASE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS!!!!!

Hey, has anyone eles received a letter from J and J wanting info on your child and their illness, the lot numbers and bar code numbers off the listerine bottles and your consent to pull your childs medical records. This really ticked me off, they know i have a contaminated bottle(i had given them that info when i called for help). They gave me NO help when i needed it for my child. They did not care that he was 8 yrs old and having unexplained stomache pains, he was put on codine at one point, The only help i got was on this parents blog, the fda letter that is in my childs medical record(i was told by the fda that this info was confidential and could only be given to his Dr.) well all it is, is the micro-orginasms that we shared here,I will have more info on his health after June 4, i will let you guys know. Oh and by the way do not return those Letters to J and J take it to an attorney with the listerine bottle. good luck to all you out there and GOD BLESS THE LITTLE CHILDREN.

  31. Vicki

My son was told by the ENT that he went to that he reccomends getting his tonsils out. I am going to go get another opinion because I don’t feel confident to have him have surgery without knowing for sure that the bacterias from the mouthwash are not the cause of the trouble. With his health in the past few months I would not feel comfortable putting him through surgery until I find out more information. When I showed the ENT the list of the 4 bacteria he did not seem to pay any attention. He just said that those most of those bacteria aren’t human pathogans and that was it. I sure have read alot of other parents say they are having strep infection problems that won’t go or stay away, as well as the other symptoms. Lets try to keep each other informed.

Hi I’m writing from the Bahamas on behalf of my little cousin, her mom brought the Listerene Cool Blue when she went to Miami in January.I was concerned because she was hospitalized last month for swollen neck/throat, tonsil she lost weight because she was not able to eat, sores in her mouth, and thresh on her tongue, because it was so BAD Social Services got involved they wanted to see where and how? she was living when they came they saw that her surrondings were clean she was fed and taken care of well if my cousin’s home wasn’t up to standard her daughter would have been taking away .It was only after she told me about her illness and I knew that she did’nt suck finger that i ask her what she thought it could be. It was then that I found out she was using the cool blue I Told her it was called back recently but she did’nt know.

  33. Sherri

It’s amazing that all of our children are experiencing the same symptoms. The doctor’s can’t tell us why they can’t get well and they all used Listerine Agent Cool Blue. Sounds to me like there really is a problem. I too called J & J and they wanted my doctor’s records, but I would not give that to them. I am considering hiring an attorney after reading on the internet about these “microorganisms”. You all should look them up and compare them to the symptoms your child is having. My 11 year old son used Listerine Agent Cool Blueback in the fall of 2006. He was very sick for several months and the doctor could not determine what was wrong with him. He had headaches, fever, stomach aches. He also experienced mouth sores. She thought it might be strep, but it came back negative. She kept him on antibiotics, but they did no good. He broke out in hives all over his body for no reason at all. He just could not get well. He stayed sick for weeks. He had a huge swollen lymph node on the left side of his neck and the doctor could not tell me why. We were very concerned that it could be life threatening. After several weeks, she sent us to an ENT. He ran a mono test and it came back positive. The scary thing about that is that he is homeschooled and is not around a lot of different kids. We go to a small church and none of them had mono. We can’t determine where/who he might have caught it from. A few weeks ago, we had a very scary incident. We were driving in the car when he started having chest pains. It hurt so bad that he started screaming, crying and wallowing around in the back seat. He began to panic and became short of breath. I managed to get him to the ER right away. They took a chest Xray, they ran an EKG, they checked his oxygen levels but they could not tell us why he had experienced this excruciating pain in his chest. My little boy told me that it hurt so bad that he thought he was going to die. It was the scariest thing ever. I immediately contacted Johnson & Johnson regarding these microorganisms and they identified them to me. They are: 1) pseudomonas fluorescens, 2) klebsiella oxytoca, 3) serratia marcescens, 4) enterobacter cloacae. I know at least one of these microorganisms affects the heart and this concerns me. What kind of long term effects is my son going to experience as a result of being exposed to these microorganisms? Anyone else out there have any of these symptoms???

  34. Ruth

Hi,I found on the http://www.fda-news.com/ news alert that Johnson&Johnson announced that it has submitted a new drug application to the United States food and Drug (FDA) for Doripenem,an investigational carbapenem antibiotic for the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia,a pneumona that usually is found in healthcare settings. This drug is a class of antibactial agents called carbapenem that are useful in trating infections caused by Gram negative and gram positive bacteria. The data demonstrated the effectiveness of doripenem against infections caused by Gram negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacteriaceae, including strains of these bacteria that are resistent to other antibiotics. This article should be read by all who have become ill from the agent blue because it talks of Ortho Mcneil company who were responsible for the contamination. Please go to the fda website and read the entire article. It is odd that they have this new drug that can help destroy these microorganisom that were found in the agent blue. Let me know what you think of this new fda news.

I only figured this out…I have had sinus infections, sore throat, itchy mouth and ear problems all spring. I switched make-up, switched toothpaste, went to the Doctor and got anitbiotics and still had terrible problems. Finally I quit using Listerine Citrus and my symptoms went away in a matter of days. There’s somthing in the adult Listerine too!

  36. Mimi

I just heard of the recall on Listerine products. This blog just goes to June 2007. Last night I was told there was a recall on Listerine Citrus, is this true? I need to know! Please reply!

  37. Keia

My son had the asme symptoms. The doctors had no explanation for it. He would be sick for 7 days at a time with stomach ache, fever, throat ache. They wanted to take his tonsil out, but then I heard about the recall. As soon as he stopped using the Listerine he was fine, and has not had an episode since April 3, 2007. Before then he would get sick every 6 weeks. This really makes me mad. I took am thinking about consulting a lawyer. To make matters worst it’s been 3 months, and they have yet to at least refund my money.

  38. Arthur

im a 26yr male. i have been using the product every now and again for the past many months. children in the house thought it would be neat to try.. I’m not trying anything neat from now on. I have been unexplainably ill for the past ?..6 months.. Painfully swollen gland in neck. irritated pallet. Infrequent but, intence chest pain(i have acid reflux and attributed it to heart burn), sharp stomach pains, and a general ongoing tiredness and now the latest what looks like thrush on my tongue(orange/white flim over tongue brushes off but comes back itches slightly) wondering if this product could be causing my symtoms

My 13 yr old son was diagnosed in Jan. 2007 with Mono. Today, Sept. 05,2007, he was re-diagnosed with active mono as well as testing positive for strep. He has had continual sinus issues for months!
My daughter has had constant abdominal pain, she was very ill Labor Day weekend; vomiting and diarhea(sp?)
I found this site today, I also realized that my kids have been periodially using Listerine Agent Cool Blue for months.
Has anyone found an independant lab that will test the childrens urine and or mucus?
I am a bit cautious about letting the Dr.s, that get bonuses from the Pharmaceutical companies, test anything that comes from my children, that might contain contaminants from the Listerine product.

hi everyone. Sorry i havent written in a long time. I have still not found a lawyer to accept my case. Parents still need to keep the info out there. My kids are ok now. My son still has asthma episodes and my now 5year old had her tonsils removed this summer. I am sure that all their illnessees are linked to listerine. I can only hope we can find proof before its too late. GOD BLESS!! Merry Christmas!

I’m so excited! I finally found a new product that is like the Listerine. It’s called Inspector Hector Pre-Brush Rinse. I have only been able to find it at Walmart so far. But hopefully it will be distributed more widely. It’s made by a completely different company that specializes in health care producs. I’m sure that a lot of people will probably be afraid of trying it at first, but the chances of it also being contaminated have to be pretty slim considering it is a completely different company.

None of you has done any sort of actual research into what these symptoms are caused by. The micro-bacteria found in the LACB products do not even link to what some of you are decribing. Dont buy into the hype and try and pawn poor hygiene habits on a company because you think they are at fault when you are just as guilty. Keep your kids healthy by making sure they wash their hands – you realize they are at just as much risk. Dont blame someone else until you get facts and understand what the true root cause could be.
