This isn't so much a problem of joblessness, but one of deficient family structure, in most cases. As you noted Jorge, the survey was from a period when the economy was (apparently) doing well, with a low unemployment rate.

Homelessness is not primarily caused by economic conditions (though they surely aggravate it for people on the margins), but by drug addiction and mental illness. That is the 'ride' that these unfortunate kids are along for, and it doesn't recede with an improving economy.

When I graduated college helen hayes was receiving an honarary degree and we had some schlub give a speech to the graduating class. confused we were too. you have helen hayes why do we need this guy.
what did he do? His speech was to bring us down and tell us how lucky we were and how many students or young people were homeless. This was 1986. talk about a buzz kill.
Gee thanx here i was in hock up to my eyeballs to go to school. I knew exactly how hard life was and was hoping that education would set me free. Luckily i have been keeping above water ..;-)

yes, its bad, but I think you will always get these tides. Its in direct proportion with economy and baby booming...

The problem is Corp america offshoring and hiring illegals hence why people here have no money no jobs and no place to live.
have companies stop being greedy and let americans do the jobs in america.
